1889-12-27 (116lbs) George Dixon w co 2 (finish) Eugene Hornbacher, New London, Connecticut, USA. Held in a local hotel in two-ounce gloves, and made at 114lbs give or take two pounds, it was a lively affair while it lasted, with both men producing clever work. The second session saw Dixon (113) getting the better of things, and after dropping Hornbacher (115½) for the full count he claimed the American 115lbs title.
