1 May (106lbs) Mike Small w rtd 13 (finish) Jack Hicks, London, England. Taking place on a Con Donovan show in the west end of London, the taller Hicks (110) was just about ahead following 12 rounds of hurricane-paced boxing that had taken a toll on both men. Unfortunately for Hicks he dislocated a thumb during the 13th and was forced to retire, thus handing the win to Small, who was thought to weigh in the region of 106lbs. Contested in small gloves, there was no championship billing reported although later gossip assumed that Small had claimed the English 106lbs title on winning.
