22 May (106lbs) Mike Small w rtd 5 (finish) Bill Rose, London, England. Held somewhere in the west end of London in small gloves, while there was no mention of billing Small (106) continued to claim the English title at the weight on winning. The Sporting Life reported it to be a hard slog from the beginning that came to an end when a tiring Rose (104) gave up the fight in the fifth, while The Sportsman reported it as a fourth-round retirement.
