1890-08-22 (126lbs) Harry Overton w co 13 (30) Bill Reader, Ormonde Club, Walworth, London, England. Billed for the English 126lbs title, Reader (123½) started the better and after Overton (124) had slipped down in the fifth and had been floored in the next session the latter somehow kept it together before being punched all over the ring in the ninth. Amazingly the tide turned in the tenth, with Reader saved by the bell, having been down twice. He was then floored three times in both the 11th and 12th prior to being knocked out in the 13th by a right to the jaw after suffering five knockdowns in that session. Although Overton was recognised as the English 126lbs champion after his sensational victory, by 1891 he was fighting in the 132lbs class.
