1890-09-15 (126lbs) Harry Spurden w rtd 25 (30) Bill Corbett, Paradise Street School of Arms, Lambeth, London, England. Referee: Mr Rushworth. Billed for the English 126lbs title, it started at a fast pace as first one then the other forced the fighting, with Corbett (124) seemingly ahead after 13 rounds. Following several evenly contested sessions, Spurden (122) took over from the 20th, rarely letting Corbett out of his corner, and after the latter had been battered endlessly from head to body he retired at the end of the 25th.
