1890-09-16 (135lbs) Jim Carroll w co 21 (finish) Andy Bowen, Olympic Club, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. Referee: John Duffy. Billed for the world 135lbs title in five-ounce gloves, with both Carroll (132½) and Bowen (130½) inside 134lbs, the Englishman, who was down in the sixth, got stronger and stronger as the fight progressed and punished his American opponent badly. Eventually, Bowen was put down for the full count in round 21 after twice falling over from exhaustion.
