1890-11-03 (150lbs) Anthony Diamond w co 10 (finish) Arthur Bobbett, Bill Reader’s School of Arms, Fulham, London, England. Billed for the English 150lbs title, with height and reach advantage Bobbett (148) started to utilise those advantages by punching straighter but by the third round he was being matched by Diamond (147¾), whose cleverness was beginning to come to the fore. In the fourth Diamond was dropped by a left to the head and although he appeared to be dazed he managed to come back strongly. By the sixth Bobbett’s left eye was closing fast and while he was still going strongly Diamond was beginning to wear him down. Both men came up fresh for the ninth, but it was Diamond who was now controlling the fight and in the tenth, having tested Bobbett with an assortment of blows up and down, he floored the latter for the full count with a right uppercut to the jaw.
Towards the end of the month, Diamond was being reported as the world 150lbs champion, which was repeated in the Sporting Life during December.
