1890-12-15 (154lbs) Ted Pritchard w rsc 4 (finish) Alf Mitchell, St Andrew’s Hall, Westminster, London, England. Referee: Bernard J. Angle. Billed for the English and world 154lbs championships, Mitchell (153½) surprised Pritchard (153) when flooring him with a left to the head at the end of the opening round. However, Pritchard was soon back in the contest. Following wild bursts of fighting in the second, Pritchard found his mark in the third to knock Mitchell down three times, and in the fourth he had his man on the floor twice more before the ring was invaded. Following that, with Mitchell almost out on his feet the referee announced that he had awarded the fight to Pritchard on the grounds that an organised interruption had taken place in order to stop the Cardiff man from being knocked out.
