1891-05-19 (134lbs) Andy Bowen w disq 23 (finish) Billy Myer, Olympic Club, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. Referee: Alex Brewster. Billed for the American and world 134lbs titles, using five-ounce gloves, Bowen made all of the early running, knocking Myer down twice in the opening round and having the best of it up to the eighth. Myer came back strongly in that session to rain in blow after blow on Bowen to drop him, but was unable to keep him down. The next 14 rounds were in Bowen’s hands. In the 23rd, though, Bowen was floored four times, the last occasion depositing him over the bottom rope, and when struck while still in that position Myer was disqualified.
