1891-05-25 (132lbs) Harry Overton w co 7 (20) Bill Whatley, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Referee: George Vize. Although not billed as such, this fight was recognised as involving the English 132lbs title. Prior to the fifth round Whatley (132) had marginally bested Overton (130), but from then on the latter came on strong and in the sixth had his man weak on his legs at the bell. By now Whatley was breathing hard and in the seventh, having been forced down momentarily, he was dropped for the full count following a short right to the small ribs.
