3 July (90lbs) Harry Munro w rtd 15 (finish) Mick Mahoney, London, England. Referee: George Sansom. This one was contested in London’s west end and billed for the world and English 90lb titles, with two-ounce gloves in use. Getting away well Munro almost floored Mahoney with a right to the jaw in the second round, but the latter began to settle and it was more or less even through to the ninth. Each round followed the same pattern, with Mahoney rushing into the attack as Munro used the jab as a means of defence. However, in the ninth Munro finally cut loose to floor Mahoney, who weakened rapidly from thereon, being dropped time and again before retiring himself one minute into the the 15th.
