1891-08-09 (144lbs) Tommy Ryan w co 3 (finish) Billy McMillan, Richardson Milk Station, Texas, USA. Made at 144lbs, and contested in two-ounce gloves, it was reported to be for the not very well defined welterweight title according to the Chicago Tribune, and took place 46 miles west of the Chicago, St Paul and Kansas City railroad. Although McMillan was outclassed he did at least put Ryan down in the second before being dropped three times himself in the same round. The fight was settled in the third when McMillan was knocked out by a straight left drive to the jaw.
