1891-08-11 (124lbs) Bill Corbett w co 7 (20) Jack Usher, Hop & Malt Exchange, The Borough, London, England. Made at 124lbs, although the first four rounds all went to Usher (121) once Corbett (124lbs) had got into his stride there was no stopping him, and he floored his rival twice in the fifth before pummelling him all over the ring in the sixth. It did not get much easier for Usher in the seventh as he was floored four times, the last occasion seeing him counted out after taking a cracking right hand on the chin. Despite there being no title billing attached, Corbett was recognised in many quarters as being the English 124lbs champion following his victory.
