1891-09-11 (135lbs) Jack McAuliffe w rsc 6 (finish) Austin Gibbons, Granite Club, Hoboken, New Jersey, USA. Referee: Jerry Dunn. Made at 135lbs and contested in four-ounce gloves, McAuliffe (135) was awarded the fight after the police called it off. While deemed to be unfair by many as it was booked for finish, McAuliffe had been on top all the way and with Gibbons (130½) pouring blood from a bad cut over the left eye the police chief had seen enough.
