1891-12-22 (140lbs) Billy Myer w co 43 (finish) Jim Carroll, Olympic Club, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. Referee: John Duffy. Made at 140lbs in five-ounce gloves, it was fairly even up until the 30th round before Myer’s extra power began to show. Knocked down twice in the 32nd and again in the 35th, Carroll (138½) was beginning to suffer and with Myer (134½) going from head to body it was looking ominous for the former. Having dropped Carroll for the fourth time, in the 42nd, Myer was now in full swing and in the 43rd he caught his rival with a heavy right to the jaw that saw him counted out following an exchange of blows.
