1892-02-16 (140lbs) Mysterious Billy Smith w co 39 (finish) Frank Kelly, Pacific AC, San Francisco, California, USA. On winning a match set for 140lbs, Smith laid claim to the title at that weight according to Arthur Smith, writing in the January 1947 issue of The Ring magazine. Described as a lightweight, Smith had Kelly on the floor four times in the 39th round before a left to the stomach sent the latter down, crying out in agony for almost two minutes.
