1892-05-31 (122lbs) Johnny Murphy nc 40 (finish) Torpedo Billy Murphy, Pacific AC, San Francisco, California, USA. Billed for the world 122lbs title, from round 26 to 40 not a worthwhile blow was struck and the referee called it off, announcing it to be a no contest. A rematch was called for on 8 June, but Billy was forced to withdraw due to injury and Johnny (121½) claimed the title by forfeit. See under Bantamweight Division also.
