1892-06-27 (118lbs) George Dixon w co 14 (finish) Fred Johnson, Coney Island AC, Brooklyn, NYC, New York, USA. Referee: Al Smith. Billed for the world 118lbs title, an extremely one-sided fight saw Johnson (116) landing few blows and it was a surprise that he was still standing prior to the finish, which came following a tremendous right to the jaw. With Dixon (115½) ready to pounce, Johnson, his left eye swollen terribly, made three unsuccessful attempts to get up before slumping down to be counted out. Despite his defeat, Johnson repeatedly continued to claim the English title at the weight.
