Made at 138lbs, it was contested in four-ounce gloves and proceeded at a terrific pace with both men tasting the canvas. Myer (137½) was down in the second and third rounds before McAuliffe (137¾), who was dumped in the fourth, took over and began landing punches at the rate of four to one from the eighth. Put down twice in the 15th, the second occasion saw Myer counted out while lying over the bottom rope.
