1892-11-08 (130lbs) Young Griffo drew 25 (finish) Martin Denny, Darlinghurst Skating Rink, Sydney, Australia. Referee: Mr Diamond. With Griffo unable to make 126lbs anymore this was billed for the world 130lbs title and, according to the Brisbane Courier, it was expected to be one of the best fights ever seen in the colonies. The paper went on to say that there was no real fighting done throughout except for a couple of sessions at most, the remainder being nothing more than a good scientific exhibition of boxing. After a round or two it was clear that both men were very clever and, with neither man suffering any damage and it shaping up to be a long night, the referee called it off at the end of the 25th and announced that he had decided on a draw. Following the contest, both men laid claim to the world title at the weight.
