1892-11-25 (124lbs) Jack Fitzpatrick w co 8 (12) Tom Wilson, Oxford Street Gymnastic Club, Manchester, England. Referee: George Dunning. Contested at 124lbs, Wilson targeted the body in the third and had Fitzpatrick winded towards the end of the session before the latter came back strongly. Still, for several rounds it seemed as though Wilson would outstay his man, but in the eighth with the pair fighting like demons Fitzpatrick found a right to the jaw to knock his rival out. According to the Sporting Life, Fitzpatrick, who took over Wilson’s English title claim at the weight on the result, surprised as many of his own supporters as he did neutrals.
