1893-02-27 (124lbs) Charlie Tilley w co 2 (20) Tom May, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Referee: Bernard J. Angle. With both men inside 124lbs, this was a defence of Tilley’s title claim at the weight and he did not hang around for long. Forcing the fight from the opening bell, Tilley (122) soon had May (123) in trouble and after dropping him with a right to the point he then sent him through the ropes for another knockdown. Somehow May made it to the end of the round, but after 25 seconds of the second had elapsed he had been dropped heavily in his own corner and counted out.
