1893-04-22 (154lbs) Ted White w pts 20 George Chrisp, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Referee: Bernard J. Angle. In a match made at 154lbs, despite a lack of title billing many would have seen this one to have involved the English title, especially when White (152) claimed it on winning before challenging the world. By the fifth round White had built up quite a lead, his left hand bemusing Chrisp (152) at times, and although the latter gamely kept ploughing in he was being outboxed. The last third of the contest saw Chrisp rushing his man and while he had some success with his work to the body it failed to slow White, who cruised to an easy points win. According to the Sporting Life on 10 September 1894, Dido Plumb was challenging all England at 154lbs and was named as being the world champion at the weight by the Mirror of Life.
