1893-05-31 (133lbs) Andy Bowen w rtd 86 (finish) Jack Everhardt, New Crescent City AC, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. Advertised as being for the 133lbs championship of the South, the action lasted five hours, 35 minutes. After 26 rounds Bowen (131) had a decided advantage as Everhardt (132¾) seemed to lack his normal steam and as it went on it was evident that it was going to be a drawn-out affair. Dropped in the 69th from a left to the head, Everhardt gamely carried on, but after his hands went he was further up against it and when the bell went for the 86th he failed to respond, thus leaving Bowen the winner.
