20 October (110lbs) Bill Moore w rsc 5 (12) Jim Knowles, Bill Goode’s Gerrard Street Gym, Soho, London, England. Although no billing or weights were reported, following the fight Moore claimed the English 110lbs title and challenged the world. The contest itself had been one-sided as Moore carried far too much heavy artillery for Knowles to handle and the latter was under pressure throughout, especially from body blows that appeared to take all the steam out of him. Down on one knee in the fourth it was clear that Knowles could not keep going much longer, and he was rescued by the referee in the fifth when not fighting back.
