1894-01-15 (152lbs) Ted White w pts 20 Anthony Diamond, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Referee: Bernard J. Angle. Despite its lack of billing, this was recognised by the vast majority as being for the English 152lbs title. Very much a clash of styles after realising that White (151) carried more power than he did, Diamond (150) began to use dodging and holding tactics to stay in the contest as his rival weakened. In the 11th Diamond was twice dropped and again in the 14th, but White was unable to finish him off and the bout developed into a cat and mouse struggle. The last six rounds saw White sending out straight left-rights and making all of the running, while Diamond, who by this stage was not going to win, used the ring well and made punches miss by clever use of the head to go the distance.
Another excellent win at 152lbs for White came when he outpointed Charles Kid McCoy over ten rounds at the same venue on 25 November 1895. Not contested over a championship distance, there would be no world title claim forthcoming from White.
