1894-01-29 (124lbs) Dave Wallace w rsc 9 (20) Ted Mortimer, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Referee: Bernard J. Angle. Although not billed for the English 124lbs title, Wallace (121) claimed the championship following his victory. Wallace had started the better, using a great left hand to set his man up, and even by the third round Mortimer (121) was tiring and behind. Down from a right to the jaw in the sixth Mortimer looked to be beaten, but he came back well to share the eighth before being rescued by the referee in the ninth after being down five times.
