1894-05-07 (133lbs) Stanton Abbott drew 10 Andy Bowen, Auditorium AC, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. Referee: John Duffy. Made at 133lbs, and not allowed to go ahead for a finish at the special request of the Attorney General, Abbott (133lbs) held on to his claim at the weight when holding off Bowen (130lbs) in what was a clumsy and unscientific affair. While Abbott had the better of the first five rounds Bowen came on strong after knocking the Englishman down in the eighth with a right to the head, but it was not enough to give him the decision.
