1894-05-21 (110lbs) George Corfield w pts 20 Bill Moore, Norfolk Road Drill Hall, Sheffield, England. Referee: Robert Watson. Billed for the English 110lbs title, with both men inside the stipulated 110lbs, this eagerly anticipated fight lived up to expectation as Moore attacked Corfield incessantly only to be denied time and again by the latter’s clever boxing. However, as the contest got beyond the halfway stage it was Corfield who came to the fore as Moore began to tire rapidly, and in the last four rounds he completely outboxed his rival to take a well-earned decision.

On 2 June 1894, Ginger Elliott challenged all England, and on 2 July 1894 Darkey Wallace did likewise.
