Abbott quickly impressed those at ringside with his excellent skills and although he took a round or two to weight Young up he was merely biding his time. Following Young around the ring in the fourth, driving in blows from both hands, Abbott had his man in a corner badly hurt when the round ended. Immediately the fifth was underway, Abbott got down to business and following several meaty blows to Young’s head the latter was sent to the floor, dazed and bewildered, and it came as no surprise when the towel was raised halfway through the count.
