30 July (107lbs) Chappie Moran w pts 20 Tom Fitzpatrick, Norfolk Road Drill Hall, Sheffield, England. Referee: T. J. McNeill. Billed for the English 107lbs title, with both men on the limit, following a fair amount of sparring by the second round Fitzpatrick was already showing signs of damage around the left eye. It had certainly warmed up by the fifth, both men having landed heavily and evenly, but by the seventh all the points seemed to be with Moran. Despite many of the sessions becoming tedious it was Moran who was getting in the majority of telling punches, and although the last three rounds saw Fitzpatrick fighting tooth and nail he lost by a fairly wide margin. This was the last big fight for Moran, who died on 3 April 1896 after complaining of groin and abdomen pains following a sparring session.
