1895-10-12 (133lbs) Kid Lavigne drew 20 Young Griffo, Empire AC, Maspeth, Queens, NYC, New York, USA. Referee: Tim Hurst. Although there was no mention of the title in the New York Herald, with both men inside 133lbs Lavigne’s claim at the weight would have been at stake and Griffo gave him a hard night’s work, his defensive qualities shining through. While the referee considered that honours were even, the majority of the crowd were with Lavigne, who forced the fight and landed the harder punches.
