1895-12-09 (104lbs) Harry Ware w pts 20 Dave Job, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Referee: Bernard J. Angle. Right from the start Ware (102½) forced the pace, with Job (103½) relying on a straight left to keep him at bay. Ware (102½) also had a strong left jab and like Job was not adverse to fighting on the inside. In the ninth Job seemed to be in some trouble, but he came right back before being sent staggering in the tenth. Again Job was under pressure, this time in the 12th, but like before he came firing back as if his life depended on it. The last two rounds saw both men fighting all over the ring like a pair of Kilkenny cats, but it was Ware who was returned the winner.
Despite there being no title billing Ware claimed the English 104lbs title, but quickly moved up in weight.
On 29 February 1896, the Sporting Life reported that Albert Gould should be now recognised as the English 104lbs champion.
