1896-02-18 (102lbs) Charlie Taylor w co 15 (20) Ernie Brady, Percy Street Cottage, Newcastle, England. Referee: J. T. Hulls. Billed for the English 102lbs title, it was clear from the start that Taylor (101), who was much shorter than Brady (100), would have to work on the inside. Up until the 11th round, Taylor had been forced to take plenty of punishment as he continuously worked his way inside, and in that session his left eye began to rapidly close. However, not to be denied, Taylor carried on determinedly despite Brady being way out in front on the cards. Taylor's perseverance paid off when a swinging right to the jaw saw the Newcastle man put down for the full count in the 15th.
