1896-06-01 (158lbs) Ted White w rsc 16 (20) Dido Plumb, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Billed for the English 158lbs championship, White, with the advantage in height and reach, soon had the left hand working well and whatever Plumb tried he could not avoid it. Adding to his lead, White sent Plumb to the floor in the seventh round but could not repeat the trick until the 14th when he sent the latter through the ropes. Both men went at it in the 15th but after Plumb had been sent down twice in the 16th the referee called a halt to the uneven struggle. Interestingly, this turned out to be the final bout of White’s career, while Plumb was challenging all England at 158lbs by November.
