1896-07-10 (135lbs) [[Jack Everhardt]] drew 20 [[Young Griffo]], Empire AC, Lyceum Theatre, Buffalo, New York, USA. Referee: Mr Brooks. With both men inside 135lbs it was another defence of Everhardt’s claim at the weight and he never looked like losing it as the fight was more of a scientific nature than that of big hitting. For 14 rounds there was no damage done and although it speeded up with Everhardt doing much of the work he lacked the power to finish it and had to settle for the draw, which may have been pre-arranged in the event of the contest going the distance.
