1896-09-07 (112lbs) Billy Plimmer w pts 20 George Corfield, Norfolk Road Drill Hall, Sheffield, England. Referee: Robert Watson. Billed for the English 112lbs title, although Plimmer virtually won every round he could not floor the tough Corfield despite handing out a shellacking at times and had to settle for the points verdict in his favour. Following the fight, Plimmer moved up to the 115lbs weight class.

Another man to win a 112lbs championship competition was Patsy Walsh, who outpointed Harry Ware over four rounds at the Athletic Club, Leeds on 11 March 1897.
