25 September (100lbs) Harry Brodigan w pts 20 Charlie Taylor, Gymnastic Club, Stalybridge, England. Referee: T. F. Bellhouse. Made at 100lbs, although the taller Taylor took the opening round once Brodigan settled down his left hand was rarely out of his rival’s face. By the seventh Taylor looked a sorry sight and he was dropped twice in the 11th as Brodigan went all out for the win. Despite Taylor doing better during the last third he was bleeding badly and was still taking heavy blows at the final bell. Brodigan laid claim to the English 100lbs title following this win, but with Harry McDermott’s claim being stronger he was not seen as the main man.
