1896-10-23 (160lbs) Dan Creedon w pts 20 Harry Baker, Empire AC, Queens, NYC, New York, USA. Referee: Tim Hurst. Having his first fight in America since arriving from Britain, Creedon, who held the British version of the title, was claiming to be world champion at 160lbs. Although there was no mention of the title in the New York Herald, the fight report stated that both men were inside the articled 160lbs, despite Creedon looking a good ten pounds heavier. Apart from the opening session when Creedon was sent to his knees from a hard right swing to the head, the latter was in total control throughout, sending out left jabs and right crosses almost at will, but it was a tame affair. However, Baker lacked the class required to beat his opponent.
