1896-10-27 (138lbs) Kid Lavigne w rsc 24 (25) Jack Everhardt, Bohemian SC, Manhattan, NYC, New York, USA. Referee: John Kelly. Billed for the world 138lbs title, Everhardt’s claims at 133 and 135lbs were not seriously considered after this, with Lavigne ruling supreme at all weights between 133 and 138lbs. Having put up a great fight, Everhardt was a chopping block from the tenth onwards and although he was never floored he took severe punishment to the head and body. The referee finally stepped in at 1.53 of the 24th when he was badly dazed by a right smash to the jaw and unable to find his bearings.
