1896-11-09 (136lbs) Billy Hill w co 14 (20) Arthur Callan, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Referee: Bernard J. Angle. In some quarters given world title billing at 136lbs, Hill claimed to be the world coloured champion at the weight while Callan was claiming the English title. Down in the second, third and fourth rounds it looked like being an early night for Callan as Hill found him an easy target, but the Englishman, fighting gamely, lasted into the 14th before a right to the jaw saw him counted out.
