1896-11-27 (122lbs) Frank Erne w pts 20 George Dixon, Broadway AC, Manhattan, NYC, New York, USA. Referee: Sam Austin. Billed for the world 122lbs title, with both men inside, Erne took over Dixon’s claim at the weight following his points win. Although there was little in it at the final bell, the bout having been contested at a rattling good pace, the referee decided that Erne’s cleaner work deserved something tangible despite there being calls for a draw.
