9 February (104lbs) Bob Bailey w pts 20 Ike Cohen, Norfolk Road Drill Hall, Sheffield, England. Referee: T. W. Gale. Billed for the English 104lbs title, the first two rounds saw Bailey (104) scoring well with the left hand, despite having disadvantages in height and reach, before Cohen (102½) sent him crashing towards the end of the third. Recovering well, Bailey began to build up a lead and from the 11th he was never headed, often landing a series of blows without return while Cohen continued to throw the right viciously but mainly out of distance. There was plenty of clinching towards the end as Cohen tired badly, leaving Bailey to run out an easy winner.
In July, Harry Ashley claimed the championship but failed to make it stick.
