20 March (115lbs) Dave Sullivan w disq 5 (25) Maxie Haugh, Polo AC, Manhattan, NYC, New York, USA. Referee: Frank Abrahall. Made at 115lbs with both men making the weight, Sullivan maintained his grip on the American title when the contest came to an end after the fifth had finished. Up to the end of the fourth the fight had been full of swings, uppercuts and fouls according to the New York Herald. In the fifth, immediately prior to the bell, Sullivan drove Haugh through the ropes, hitting him as he came up. During the interval the referee refused to disqualify Sullivan and cautioned both men for fouling, following which Haugh threw his gloves down and was duly disqualified when he left the ring.
