1897-04-23 (115lbs) Jimmy Barry w pts 20 Jimmy Anthony, National AC, Woodward’s Pavilion, San Francisco, California, USA. Referee: Hiram Cook. Billed for the world 115lbs title, Barry was the more skilful fighter but was unable to finish Anthony off despite hurting him on many occasions. With the Australian decidedly groggy at the end of the 16th round, Barry did all he could to knock him out before settling for the decision.

Barry never defended the 115lbs title, moving back down in weight.
