1897-08-09 (128lbs) Billy O’Donnell w rsc 5 (20) Hugh Fitzsimmons, Greenpoint AC, Brooklyn, NYC, New York, USA. Made at 128lbs, After three interesting rounds O’Donnell got to work in the fourth when dropping Fitzsimmons three times with left hooks, and in the fifth the latter was so far gone that the referee rescued him before any further damage could be done. O’Donnell claimed the American title at the weight on winning, having earlier beaten Joe Bernstein.
