1898-04-04 (122lbs) Ben Jordan w disq 17 (20) Eddie Curry, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Referee: Bernard J. Angle. Billed as Britain’s version of the world 122lbs title, Jordan started well and by the fifth he had really begun to weaken Curry with body blows. The Englishman continued to hand out punishment and in the tenth he put Curry down with a swing to the jaw. By now his body work was having an effect on Curry, who was told more than once not to hold, and in the 14th the latter was sent down heavily following a rally. The next two sessions saw Curry under the cosh and when one of his seconds entered the ring in the 17th the American was automatically disqualified. have been returned the winner.
