5 September (115lbs) Jim Williams w disq 12 (20) George Corfield, Norfolk Road Drill Hall, Sheffield, England. Referee: Edward Humphreys. Billed for the English 115lbs title with both men inside the weight, it was the aggression of Williams against the clever defence of Corfield, who had established a big lead by the tenth round. However, Williams came right back to win the tenth and towards the end of the 11th Corfield was cautioned by the referee for twisting his man to the floor. When the two men clinched at the start of the 12th and Corfield again twisted Williams to the floor the referee had no alternative other than to disqualify him.
