1898-09-26 (122lbs) Dave Sullivan w rsc 5 (25) Solly Smith, Greater New York AC, Brooklyn, NYC, New York, USA. Referee: Alec Brown. Billed for the world 122lbs championship, Smith, who was the cleverer of the pair, broke his left forearm in the second round before the fight was called off in the fifth because he was running too much. Still claiming the 120lbs version of the American featherweight title despite his defeat, Smith never defended it as such.
