1898-09-28 (133lbs) Kid Lavigne drew 20 Frank Erne, Greater New York AC, Brooklyn, NYC, New York, USA. Referee: Sam Austin. Billed for the American and world 133lbs titles, the pre-fight agreement stated that if the bout went the distance then a draw would be announced, regardless of points scored. Because of this the greatly improved Erne failed to be given the verdict that he would have deserved under normal conditions, having outboxed Lavigne in many of the rounds. The only thing missing was a knockdown.
